POLITICO’s Morning Energy podcast discussed the Thriving Economy Project today as Washington looks ahead to what comes next on energy and climate policy.
The hosts pointed to policy ideas laid out this fall by Members of Congress working with SEEC on environment and climate issues, and described them as “creative proposals.” They highlighted several examples: reforming FEMA, reforming the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program, and requiring data centers to cover their own energy costs and contribute to LIHEAP, which helps low-income households pay for heating.
The proposals are part of the Thriving Economy Project, which brings together more than 800 policy recommendations developed with Members of Congress and informed by experts in business, nonprofits, academia, and communities around the country. The project starts from the idea that lower energy costs, good jobs, American competitiveness, and a healthy environment can move together.
