What is The Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute?

SEEC Institute is how environmental progress gets done. We work with Members of Congress outside the halls of the Capitol – as international advocates, conveners, and policy thinkers – to make concrete steps towards our shared environmental goals.

What We Are Working On

  • International Engagement and COP 30

    The 30th Conference of the Parties meeting this November is a pivotal moment for the international climate movement – when countries will update and submit their latest 2035 climate targets and set the course for the next decade of global climate action. SEEC Institute is leading a high-ranking delegation of U.S. officials to COP30 in Belem, Brazil – ensuring that diplomats and leaders from around the world will see and hear from pro-climate, pro-environment U.S. elected leaders, and build a sustained working partnership with the on climate that will endure long-term.  See below for thoughts from delegation Members!

  • Thriving Economy Project

    SEEC Institute’s Thriving Economy Project Initiative seeks to generate forward-looking policy proposals that will serve as a blueprint for long-term economic growth and prosperity for all Americans, with a focus on realizing a secure, affordable, and reliable energy future full of opportunity. The policies outlined in this Initiative are intended to meet the unprecedented moment facing the economy, energy sector, and environment in 2025 and beyond.

  • SEEC Institute Annual Summit

    The 2025 Solutions Summit will serve as a high-impact platform to shape our path forward. This year’s Summit will once again convene Members of Congress and other policymakers, private sector innovators, advocates, and researchers for a day of solutions-focused dialogue, collaboration, and actionable strategy.

International Engagement and COP 30

While at COP, SEEC Institute’s delegation will work on a number of important issue areas and missions, including strengthening U.S. climate diplomacy, engaging on climate and trade policy, rallying the U.S. private sector, and promoting American commercial diplomacy. The daily delegation schedule at COP 30 will focus on activities like these:

  • Conduct bilateral meetings and policy exchanges with foreign government delegations;

  • Interface with fellow parliamentarians and legislators from key partner countries;

  • Convene and host public-facing events to push forward with American climate leadership.

“When I attended COP25 in Madrid, a European Parliamentarian pulled me aside to warn that bad things happen when the US doesn’t lead. Our allies around the globe understand the crisis we face. I’m proud to be part of this delegation to help show the rest of the world that there are people in the United States who know the stakes, are dedicated to finding a path to net-zero, and are willing to do everything in their power to meet the moment.”

– Rep. Sean Casten (IL-6)

Thriving Economy Project

“SEEC Institute’s Thriving Economy Project will provide a strong policy blueprint to reduce pollution, lower costs and build safer communities. The Thriving Economy Project will develop an innovative action plan that combines clean energy, sustainable manufacturing and climate resilience solutions. Policymakers, industry experts and community leaders should gather their new ideas, new technologies and new coalitions to help inform the Thriving Economy Project and benefit our communities in the years ahead.”

- Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14)

SEEC Institute’s Thriving Economy Project seeks to generate forward-looking policy proposals that will serve as a blueprint for long-term economic growth and prosperity for all Americans, with a focus on realizing a secure, affordable, and reliable energy future full of opportunity. A key strength of the project will be its wide-reaching, all-encompassing view of environmental policy across the American economy.

This ambitious Initiative by SEEC Institute is intended to lay out the economy we want to see – sustainable economic growth, job opportunities for all, higher standard of living across the board, affordable and reliable energy that is clean – with a list of policy options that unlock the path to achieving these goals.

SEEC Institute

solutions summit

Perhaps our most significant event of 2024 was the SEEC Institute Solutions Summit in Washington, DC. On October 23rd, 2025, we expect to have an even more successful gathering than last year, and plan on hosting a number of roundtable Member discussions, speakers, and panels once again. We hosted 26 Members of Congress at the inaugural Summit last year and expect even more this year!

Thank you to our supporters from last year!
