“The need to act is urgent: families, businesses, and communities across the country are already feeling the strain of rising costs, changing energy markets, and worsening climate impacts,” said Max Frankel, Executive Director of the SEEC Institute. “This effort is about meeting that moment with durable solutions that can ease pressure today while laying the groundwork for a future that is more affordable, resilient and secure. Our Steering Committee reflects a commitment to listening broadly and advancing recommendations that can deliver real results now.”

The Steering Committee will join an existing coalition of Members of Congress and some of the best energy and environmental policy minds from former administrations and Congress, and other leading energy and environmental policy and technology experts.

The Thriving Economy Project is the signature effort of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute, a nonprofit founded in 2024 to advance climate and clean energy solutions.

The project will include policies that can be considered immediately, combining an ambitious vision of the country’s economic future with a realistic look at today’s challenges.

To develop practical solutions, the Thriving Economy Project continues to gather ideas and feedback from people across the country, including farmers, manufacturers, small business owners, labor leaders, public sector leaders, CEOs, researchers, students, and community advocates.

In total, the project has received nearly 1,200 policy recommendations from hundreds of organizations, associations, advocates, and more. The project has also received roughly 140 RFI responses from Fortune 100 companies, environmental NGOs, utility districts, academia and elsewhere.
