Job Title: Senior Development Associate
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary Range: $85,000–$105,000 annually
Location: Washington, DC; remote-first with in person meetings and events

Position Summary:
SEEC Institute seeks a strategic, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven Senior Development Associate to lead efforts that grow and sustain the organization’s reach and impact. This individual will play a central role in raising new revenue for the organization by identifying and cultivating prospective donors, developing high-impact fundraising strategies, and driving donor acquisition. They will also strengthen relationships with current supporters, craft compelling materials, and ensure the infrastructure is in place to support long-term donor engagement.
The ideal candidate has a strong network of foundation and corporate relationships, is passionate about addressing climate and environmental challenges, brings initiative, creativity, and a growth mindset, and is energized by building new relationships, seizing emerging opportunities, and has a vision to create a sustaining revenue for the Institute.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Management
Lead development strategies to meet organizational fundraising goals.
Research prospective donors and prepare donor outreach materials.
Draft donor communications, including thank-you letters, newsletters, and funding proposals.
Event and Meeting Coordination
Provide logistical support for donor meetings and events.
Help coordinate travel arrangements, venue bookings, and other event planning details.
Write background briefings and memos for board members and other key event participants.
Database Management
Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in the organization's CRM system.
Track contributions and generate regular fundraising reports for leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support the cultivation and stewardship of donor relationships.
Prepare briefing materials for meetings with Members of Congress, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks
Manage invoices, contracts, and expense reports related to development activities.
Coordinate internal schedules and ensure timely follow-up on development tasks.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Political Science, Environmental Studies, Nonprofit Management, or Communications).
Experience: 4+ years in a nonprofit, development, or fundraising-related role preferred.
Skills:
Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with the legislative process and climate/clean energy policy is a plus.
Existing relationships with foundations is preferred, but not required.
Additional Requirements
This role is based in Washington, DC. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment, with regular in-person meetings.
Willingness to travel as needed (up to 10%).
